THE PHOTO

The Tom Hanks shoot was inspired by Forrest Gump. The innocence of Hank’s character in the 1994 film reminded me of the beginning of man, when everything was new, which is how I got the idea for the chimp. The chimp kept pranking and teasing Tom, like a sibling. He was fascinated by covering Tom’s eyes. His laughter and his expressions were contagious. And his hands, just a little smaller than ours, had an astonishingly beautiful texture.
